Knightsbridge is undoubtedly central London’s most exclusive shopping area, best known for Harrod’s and Harvey Nichols department stores as well as a number of chic and expensive shops and boutiques focussed mainly on fashion, home décor and furniture. The nature of the shops, restaurants and expensive hotels in the area, means it is not unusual to bump into a famous face or two whilst browsing.
As Knightsbridge’s most famous store, Harrod’s, draws large numbers of visitors every year, many simply to look but many also because the store has a unique atmosphere and offers a wide range of items that simply are not available elsewhere. Whether your interest is clothes, cosmetics and perfumes, home furnishing, white goods or many more, Harrod’s features a number of exclusive brand names you cannot find elsewhere. Harrod’s is also well known for its amazing Food Hall and it is off this that you can simply sit down and have afternoon tea (or coffee) in the uniquely British style.
Knightsbridge is located between Hyde Park Corner and South Kensington in central London and is also one of London’s most exclusive residential areas, adjacent to two other well-known exclusive areas – Belgravia and Mayfair. The two major roads of Knightsbridge are Knightsbridge itself and Brompton Road (where Harrod’s can be found). Away from the two main roads, Knightsbridge is a delightful area that retains much of the village atmosphere that it once had, outside London’s walls. Elegant buildings from Georgian and Victorian times, lovely garden squares, unique small shops and restaurants all characterise the area and make it such an appealing and expensive place to live.
